Are Eggs Good for Kids?

Eggs are tasty, inexpensive, and full of nourishing elements. In addition to being excellent sources of good quality protein, eggs contain many nutrients: several vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

What are nourishing elements in the egg?

The best eggs contain about 6 g of protein. These are distributed almost evenly between white and yellow. What's more, these proteins are of very good quality since they contain the nine amino acids essential for growth and your child's development.

The majority of an egg's calories, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants are found in its yolk. However, please do not neglect the white of the egg since it contains half of its riboflavin (vitamin B2) and its proteins.

Remember that fats are essential since they provide energy and essential fatty acids. Plus, they help your child absorb vitamins A, D, E, and K. Your toddler's diet should not be limited in fat.

At what age can you start to give eggs to your baby?

The baby is prepared to eat solid foods at six months. Therefore, it is advisable to offer him iron-rich foods, and eggs are one of them. In premium eggs, iron is mostly found in the yolk and they are rich in Omega 3. Your baby can digest the white too, but the nutrients in the yolk are more attractive to him. As long as he eats small amounts, offer him the yolk.

What about eggs enrichment?

Ise Eggs enriched with omega-3 are produced by adding flax seeds to chickens' diet. Flax seeds contain omega-3 fatty acid, which is partly found in eggs. In addition, hens convert a proportion of these fats into omega-3s similar to those found in oily fish. Studies show that consuming omega-3 enriched eggs is a very effective way to lower blood triglycerides. Omega 3 is also very good for kids brain development as it contains DHA and also for the skin and hair health.

Lots of protein

Eggs are rich in protein (12%): in short, in 2 eggs, i.e., 100 grams, there are 12 grams of protein. Egg proteins are perfect. The high protein eggs have all the essential amino acids, both yolk and white. Proteins are the building blocks of muscles and help in child growth.

Minerals, iodine

The Best egg for kids also contains minerals and trace elements: for example, the egg is rich in iodine. It is very important for the development of the thyroid gland in a child: it provides the basis for metabolism, physical and mental development of the child's growth.

Choline, Lutein and zeaxanthin

The choline, Lutein and zeaxanthin content of an egg is almost entirely concentrated in the yolk.  Research has confirmed that lutein and zeaxanthin, which are good for eye health. Egg is one of the few food sources that contains choline and choline is needed for the brain and nerve health.

ISE eggs are the best eggs for children as they are safe, healthy and delicious.

How to Choose and Buy Truly Good Eggs

What to look for while buying an ISE egg is a lot more complex than you would think. There are many things to think about: free-range, pasture-raised, cage-free, organic, and so on. What about the chickens, though? What did they eat before they lay the eggs you're considering buying, and how were they raised?

Premium Eggs seen on grocery store shelves have undergone a stringent USDA inspection process. They're transported under strict circumstances to ensure their safety and pass-through quality inspection.

Even so, you need to be aware of how to choose high-quality eggs. Here are some pointers to consider:

Think about refrigeration:

Every time, buy eggs from a refrigerated case. Eggs are usually delivered to stores in vehicles kept at a temperature of no more than 45°F (7°C)—these aids in the prevention of food borne illnesses like salmonella.

Look for cracks

Choose eggs with smooth, uncracked shells. When you're in the grocery store, open the carton of eggs and look for any breakage or cracks. If you detect any cracks in the eggs, don't buy them because salmonella can enter the inside.

Double-check the date

Don't buy eggs over their expiration date. With time, the yolk will begin to absorb the water in the egg white, making the egg white thinner and the yolk bigger, flatter, and easier to break. Even though the eggs are over their "sell by" date, you can keep them in your fridge for three to five weeks after you bring them home.

Look for the USDA mark on the label:

Check to determine if the USDA mark is present on the label. The eggs have been examined and verified to fulfil tight quality high standard egg standards, as evidenced by a shield displaying the USDA grade of eggs.

Identify the suitable grade level:

Most stores have Grade A eggs on their shelves. The white of Grade A eggs is characterized as "fairly" firm, whereas the white of Grade AA eggs is categorized as "reasonably" firm. Remember that anything below a Grade B is not a good option.

Select the appropriate type:

Select the sort of egg depending on your preferences. Pasture-raised eggs are nutritious, cage-free eggs are cost-effective, and normal eggs are "standard," among other things.

Determine the optimal size for your needs:

Choose the most cost-effective and convenient size. The weight of the egg, rather than its dimensions, determines its size. Many recipes, especially in baking, require a specific egg size. Large eggs are the best egg for kids in most cases.

Keep it Fresh: How to Store Eggs

It is unnecessary to tell you how important eggs are for your balanced diet. But we often use the wrong techniques to store eggs which makes them damaged, contaminated and unsuitable for eating. We are used to keeping the eggs in the plastic container that comes with the refrigerator. But that is far from the best way to store the eggs. If you are one of those persons who have been doing the same thing for years, then this blog is for you.

1. Use the store-bought container to store eggs:

We often use the store-bought cardboard container for other uses but not to store eggs. We want to use the plastic egg container that comes with our fridge. But keeping the eggs in the cardboard container with which it was bought is the best way to store those without any damage. It is because the cardboard gives the best egg for kids better protection from any kind of breakage.

2. Do Not Wash the Eggs

Many of us have the habit of washing all the eggs after we get them from the supermarket. But the best way to keep eggs lasting longer is by not washing them. ISE eggs are commercially washed, in this process many times the natural protective coating called a “bloom” or a “cuticle” from the outer surface of the egg is washed away.  But after washing the eggs, a film of edible oil is applied to the outer surface to keep any bacteria from penetrating the shell contaminating the egg. When we wash the eggs at home the protective layer gets washed away and the chances of bacterial contamination increases. Unless absolutely necessary, avoid washing eggs.

3. Do not store eggs in the door of the refrigerator:

We usually store the eggs in the doors of our fridge maybe because we think it will be handy for us. But actually, the temperature keeps fluctuating near the door and hence the eggs can get damaged. When it is very hot during summers it is best to keep the eggs on the middle shelf of the fridge and if possible towards the backside.  Because the temperature is the coldest there and also more constant. It ensures to keep fresh egg for kids and the eggs stay perfectly preserved for a longer period.

Keep eggs facing upside-down in the carton:

We usually keep the pointed side of the eggs up and the rounded side down. But it is not the ideal way to keep eggs in the carton. Keeping the rounded side up and pointed side down of the eggs in the carton helps those remain fresh for a longer period. It is because there is an air bubble towards the rounded side which maintains the yellow yolk in the middle of the eggs. This helps in keeping the best eggs fresh.

Bottom line:
Nowadays food poisoning has become very common. But it is our responsibility to keep our food fresh and clean. You can use these ways to keep nutritious ISE eggs fresh for a long time and make your food healthy.
